Words of Encouragement – Struggling with Persistent Pain

Video Transcript

Dr. Alibhai here. Are you struggling with pain that’s difficult to overcome, whether physical or mental? Ask yourself: Is this problem temporary or permanent? If you know it’s temporary, allow yourself some peace of mind. While there is some suffering, give yourself grace, knowing that it will improve.

It will just take some time. Next, ask yourself: Is this a familiar pain, or is it new? If it’s familiar, recall how you felt then and ask yourself, did it improve? Yes, it did. I went through tough times and felt very emotional about it. Now, if it’s new, consider whether others have experienced this pain and overcome it.

Yes, they have. Absolutely. It’s important for you to know there is hope. I’ve dealt with a severe disc herniation in my back for many years. I chose not to have surgery, but I am constantly rehabbing it. Sometimes it flares up, and I have to manage the emotions that come with it.

This is what I’m experiencing right now. It’s a powerful reminder to revisit past lessons and apply them to our current struggles. Have an amazing day. Take care.
