One Word That Will Change Your Life

Video Transcript

Hey everyone, this is an important post for me that I wanted to make as we close out 2023. I know many of us want to feel better in 2024. We aim to be better human beings, better parents, better family members. Essentially, we want to be the best versions of ourselves.

Every year, as you might have heard me say before, I choose a word that becomes a driving force in how I view the world. This idea comes from the book “One Word That Will Change Your Life,” and millions have joined in on this exercise. I’m hoping you’ll participate with me. Our team is doing it, and even my kids pick a word for the year.

That single word serves as the lens through which we view our world. Over the years, I’ve chosen words like transform, focus, uncomfortable, thrive, and creativity. My kids have picked words such as imagine and creativity. My son Rahel chose the word “worthy.”

This year, instead of setting traditional goals, we’re focusing on ‘being’ goals. So, if there’s a word that embodies what you want to be this year, that’s the word you should live by. I’ve been talking about choosing a word, but imagine if a greater power, God, or whoever you believe in, had a word for you for this year. What would it be?

The word might not come to you immediately. You don’t need to scour through a dictionary. Perhaps you’ll see it on a billboard or hear someone say it, and it just resonates with you. When you hear it, you feel it. It changes your physiology and your energy, becoming your anchor for the year.

Then, you start living it out and begin to thrive. I want each and every one of you to have an amazing 2024. Whatever uncertainties or opportunities come our way, we will use our word to help us not just survive, but thrive.

I really hope you spend time in quiet reflection to let your word find you. Remember, “One Word That Will Change Your Life” by John Gordon could change your approach. Check it out. Talk to you soon.
