How to use a Massage Gun (Simple Tips) Massage Gun Link Below!

Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Dr. Alibhai here from Stuart Chiropractic. Today, I’m going to show you how to use a massage gun most effectively. Many people own one, and there are numerous brands available online. We’ll send a link for the one we recommend. Instead of just aimlessly pounding on your muscles, it’s crucial to combine the use of the massage gun with some stretching.

For instance, if I’m working on shoulder tension, I could use the massage gun up and down my shoulder like this—I’ll turn it on now. You see, just like that. Alternatively, I could pin down the tissue to prevent excessive pressure (keep it below a 10 on the pain scale) and simultaneously stretch the area.

If it feels too intense, lower the setting, hold the gun in place, and incorporate a neck stretch. So, you close it down, pin it, and stretch while using the massage gun. Find an intensity level that is comfortable for you; I suggest not exceeding a 4 in terms of discomfort.

Let’s talk about the pecs, which often tighten from maintaining a forward posture. You close the arm down, then open it up like this while using the gun. This technique also applies to other areas like the biceps, which I prefer to do while seated, perhaps even while watching TV, allowing you to work through different tissues and extend your leg.

Any tender area is fair game. For tough spots like the bottom of your foot, which can be quite sensitive, use a more pinpoint attachment. Hold the foot down with one hand, turn on the massage gun, and stretch the area simultaneously.

This method helps break down scar tissue, allows muscles to slide and glide better, and helps flush out built-up inflammation and congestion.

For areas like the forearm, which are prone to issues like tennis elbow on the thumb side and golfer’s elbow on the pinky side, you might need a finer point attachment. Pin the area down, use the massage gun, and stretch it downward, enhancing the muscle stretch.

Using a massage gun can make a significant difference in how you feel, making mornings feel fresher and less tight. I recommend using it before workouts or afterward, depending on your body’s needs. Let me know how this works for you. I hope this clears up any questions about using a massage gun.

Take care. Bye now.
